  • 3 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 200ml dry marsala wine
  • Salt & pepper
  • 200g gruyere, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 800ml beef stock
  • 6 medium potatoes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 50g butter

  1. Slice the potatoes in parallel cuts 3/4 of the method through. 
  2. Brush with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper, then bake at 180°C for roughly associate hour to permit the potatoes to cook through and spread.
